Students Against Animal Cruelty at Solent University was founded at the beginning of the academic year in 2006. Our main objectives are to educate the general public on vegetarianism and veganism, recruit new members, campaign for popular animal rights issues and develop a group where people can discuss animal-related issues and gather information. We have links with several other welfare groups across the country, such as the V.V.F., V.I.V.A., Animal Aid, S.A.R.C. and Solent Veggies and Vegans.
Our president is Alexia Weeks, third-year Journalism student and dedicated vegan. We currently consist of approx. 8 to 10 members, although we are always looking for new people to join us! Membership is only £5 for the whole year, and we usually have meetings every week or fortnight, with regular socials and events too.
